A team of architects and wall painting restorers undertook the survey and condition assessment of the 18th century Drikung temple, settled against the rockface above Photoksar village (on the way from Wanla to Zanskar).
The temple is in a serious state of decay: the main column and beams are shifting downwards, causing a lot of damage to the walls with wall paintings. The roof is leaking all over. Large parts of the adjoining monk rooms have collapsed.
